A word and a prayer to start our week

“Are you tired, worn out, burned out on religion? Come to me, get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me – watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and rightly.” Matthew 11:28-30 MSG

Lord we give you our week, full to the brim before we even get started.

We’re exhausted by the must-do’s, the should-do’s and the would-like-to-do’s, and it’s only Monday.

We want to keep company with you and learn to live freely even in the midst of the manic race to the weekend. Be our companion as we journey through each day.

Would you show us how to rest in you as we show up in the places you’ve given us to work. Show us the empty places that need to be filled with your love.

Teach us your ways – the ways of unforced living where grace abounds, where your love is first and foremost in all we do.

Be with us dear friend and companion, and remind us today that you are our portion, you are are strength, you are enough and so are we.

Amen.
