31 Grace-full Days: Day 12 – Facebook Prayer

I would like to say I came up with this idea on my own, but I didn’t! My friend and fellow Facebooker Deb actually came up with it last week. She posted that she was going to take a few minutes when looking at Facebook to pray for those in her feed.

I thought that was a pretty good idea! So, this week, as I went through my morning routine, when I opened up Facebook, I prayed for the first five people who showed up in my feed, without questioning who they were. Some, were even fellow 31-dayers whom I have never met.

My reaction surprised me.

Typically, I am scrolling and scrolling, trying to catch up, as if I might miss something  vitally important. Facebook can be overwhelming. It can become so consuming that I tend to spend way too much time on it. On the other hand, it’s been an incredible way to keep in touch with friends and family. And heck… my husband and I reconnected on Facebook, so it’s near and dear to my heart.

But what happened when I started to pray for the first five people in my feed? I lost some of the necessity to scroll on and on looking for updates. I became content with a little bit of Facebook instead of feeling like I had to digest the whole thing.

I don’t know what effect my prayers had on those that I prayed for, but I do know it changed the way I interact with Facebook in a really cool way. Give it a try friends! You might just like it!

My Grace-full pause: Prayer can change my focus. I should apply it more often.
